About Me

I'm a user interface and web designer from Toronto, Ontario (that's in Canada for all of you geography buffs). I design clean interfaces and websites that enable users to get your message in a simple but effective and intuitive manner.

I've been designing and developing websites since 2005, but have been working within the internet industry since accepting a position with the startup 4everSports Inc. back in 2003. This was somewhat of a leap considering I had just finished a biology degree at the University of Waterloo, but it encouraged me to pursue a career in design and development, and helped to refine my predominantly self taught skills in this field.

About the Site

Well, first and foremost, this site was made on a Macbook with OS X. I've been more of a PC guy for most of my life, but once Apple made the jump to Intel chips, it was really kind of a no-brainer to make a switch myself. I've even become some what of a moderate Apple fanboy often asking myself, "What did I do before this?".

This site, like 99% of the other sites I've designed, started with Adobe Photoshop and to a lesser extent Illustrator (though I suppose there are no small parts...). From here TextMate facilitated all of the CSS, XHTML, and PHP coding, while Transmit allowed me to move all of this code over to the server at Dreamhost. The Wordpress Content Management System (CMS) manages almost all of the wonderful content displayed here using a highly customized Sandbox theme. And finally the last thing I'd like to mention is how instrumental Patience was when making everything look even close to similar in Internet Explorer.
